Veterans' Small Business Grant
Awarded to Kentucky SBDC

The KSBDC received the one-time award to promote business ownership to all enlisted and retired members of the armed forces and their families as well as civilian business owners affected by deployments.

“This is another fantastic example of how the Kentucky Small Business Development Center is reaching out to impact the lives of businesses and families across the Commonwealth,” said UK President Lee T. Todd, Jr. “This program is particularly gratifying because it provides us the opportunity to partner and assist Kentuckians who do so much to serve and protect us each and every day.”   The KSBDC will develop a package of technical assistance services designed specifically for veterans and businesses impacted by deployments, that includes:

  • A collaborative network of resource partners to provide veterans with all available options and opportunities

  • Individual and confidential management consultations available in person or via the Internet

  • Educational programming opportunities available in classroom or via the Internet.

  • Entrepreneurial Assessments

  • Social networking opportunities with other veterans, resource partners and small business owners

  • A variety of additional services customized for veterans

Through the use of on-line technology and email consulting, veterans will have access to KSBDC services prior, during and after deployment.

Another component of the grant is developing a statewide support network to increase coordination among organizations that assist veterans and promote available services. This network will work to address gaps in services while providing veterans an opportunity to have access to all organizations that can be of service.
